Service Terms

← Back to ServicesSimple terms to keep projects predictable: clear scope, clear deliverables, and no surprise creep.Questions? Email jfstone2000@proton.me

What these terms apply to

  • One-off Quick Fix work
  • Deployment & Reliability setup work
  • Monthly Maintenance (when available / when agreed)

If a quote or agreement includes different terms, the quote wins for that specific job.

Scope and deliverables

  • Scope is defined in writing (email + accepted quote).
  • The deliverables are exactly what’s listed in the quote (e.g., fixes completed, screenshots/notes, runbook if applicable).
  • Anything not explicitly listed is not included.
If you want additional work, I’m happy to quote it—nothing expands silently.

Change orders

  • Anything not listed in scope is out-of-scope.
  • Out-of-scope work requires approval before it begins.
  • Out-of-scope is handled as either:
    • a separate fixed quote, or
    • hourly work billed in 30-minute blocks (only with approval)

No surprise expansions.

Scheduling and communication

  • I typically reply within 1–2 business days (Eastern Time).
  • Work begins when a start slot is confirmed and required access + payment are in place (“kickoff”).
  • Turnaround estimates are measured in business days after kickoff, not from the first email.
  • Weekend and evening responses may be limited.
Travel notice: March 18 – April 9, 2026. Responses may be delayed during this window.

Access and credentials

  • Client provides required access (hosting/DNS/CMS/repo as needed).
  • Minimum access principle: I only request what’s necessary.
  • Temporary credentials are preferred when possible.
  • Client is responsible for maintaining backups unless backup setup is included in scope.

If access cannot be provided, timelines may be delayed.

Payment

  • For small fixed-scope jobs, typical payment is 50% upfront and 50% on delivery (unless otherwise stated).
  • For very small tasks, payment may be requested upfront.
  • Maintenance (when agreed) is billed monthly in advance (or per the agreed schedule).
  • Work begins after payment and access are in place.

Timelines and estimates

  • Timelines are estimates based on receiving access + needed information.
  • Quick Fix work typically targets 2 business days after kickoff, unless otherwise stated.
  • Deployment work varies by stack and environment; the quote will state an estimate.

If unexpected deployment blockers appear, they’re handled under the scope/change-order rules.

Support window

  • One-off work includes a short support window (typically 7 days) for issues directly caused by delivered changes.
  • Ongoing support is available through Maintenance (when agreed).
  • Requests outside the support window are treated as a new quote.

Client responsibilities

  • Provide accurate requirements and timely feedback.
  • Verify deliverables in a timely manner once delivered.
  • Own content, legal compliance, and licensing for site materials.

Limitations

  • No guarantee of specific SEO rankings or business outcomes.
  • Performance improvements depend on platform constraints and available access.
  • Third-party outages, services, or integrations are outside my control.
